Test your setup with a laptop or other mobile device that can display the signal strength, and record the results. Which one you decide to build will depend on the materials and tools you have available, but the cost to build one is either very low or free. Search the web for “home-made Wi-Fi (or wireless) signal booster” and you should be able to find printable templates as well as videos that will guide you on how to make reflectors for a wireless router that is equipped with external antennas or a portable reflector if you have an external USB Wi-Fi NIC.
